If COVID-19 Positivity Rate Drops Below 2%, Assam to hold HSLC Examination 2021: Himanta Biswa Sarma
The Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on 10th June (Thursday) said that if the COVID-19 positivity rate goes down below 2%, Assam HSLC and HSSLC Examination 2021 will be held from 15th July 2021. He said at a press conference held to mark the completion of the first thirty days of his government that a series of meetings were held by the education department with guardians, students’ organisations and other stakeholders in this regard.
It is notable that many States of India have cancelled their Board Examinations amid COVID-19 pandemic after CBSE decided not to conduct Class 12 Examination.
Sarma said “The schedule for the examination will be announced within the next few days but with the rider that the positivity rate in the state comes down to less than 2%”
It is mentioned that the current positivity rate in the state is 3.24%.
“The matric (HSLC) and the higher Secondary (HSSLC) are important examinations as several empowering schemes like handing laptops and scooties are linked to these examinations” He added. However, if the positivity rate is above 2% on 1st July’2021, the HSLC (10th) and HSSLC (12th) examinations will be cancelled.
If the examinations are cancelled, the respective schools will be directed to conduct the evaluation. The guidelines for the same will be published later on by the Education Minister of the State Mr. Ranoj Pegu.
It is further mentioned that the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination held by the Board of Secondary Education (SEBA) and the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination held by Assam Higher Secondary education Council (AHSEC), were scheduled to start in the month of May this year; but these exams were postponed due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 second wave.
Generally, these two important examinations were held in February/March and the result announce in the month of May. But this year the scene is different throughout the country because of COVID-19 pandemic. Let us see what decision is being taken by the state. It will be informed to you all…
